A rare and unique woodcut of the American writer Edgar Allen-Poe by renowned Swiss artist Félix Vallotton, who played a central role in reviving the European woodcut tradition, becoming one of its most accomplished and sought-after practitioners of the day.
The artist`s monogram `FV` is in the bottom right corner, on the reverse is written `Collection Maurice Ravel`, indicating that the woodcut was in the French composer`s art collection.
