A rare and exceptional Regency writing desk called a 'Bonheur du Jour', loosely translated as delight of the day. The blood red lacquer is decorated with Chinoiserie decoration and gilt banding. It has faux bamboo legs, two drawers and two Chinoiserie and faux bamboo decorated compartments. This charming piece is reminiscent of the best furniture in the Brighton Pavilion. Despite it being made two hundred years ago, it is remarkably practical and can easily fit a laptop.
