Oil on canvass, signed and dated on reverse Jacques Daniel, 1969. Four vignettes representing still lives in the manner of Giorgio Morandi. The artist has used a peaceful pastel palette to demonstrate his understanding of volume, light and shadow.
Jacques Daniel (1920-2011) studied at the prestigious Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris and had strong ties with Ecole de Paris artistes after the War. He had a successful career as a graphic designer but always maintained an artistic practice and took part in collective commercial shows as well as solo exhbitions.
